so proud of my spiritual home state. alternative title: taste the rainbow
special thanks to blue rooster for the gift of neon and to my gay-married friends for letting me borrow their cake server.
my very handsome, charming, and brilliant husband, who i am so grateful i was allowed to marry (in the great state of new york) adds: “Lady Liberty and her longtime, blind-folded girlfriend Justice are getting married.”
“april” from the i’m so tiny calendar! start on any month you want!
easter candy is the best holiday candy there is. if you disagree, your mouth is broken.
did you ever wonder how peeps were made? oh, yes? then let me show you:
mad genius bonus hour:
i got an email from jon at enjou chocolat the other day, complimenting my work. this was very exciting because i have long dreamt of being willy wonka someday, and also because flattery works wonders on me. he asked if i might give a go at making a tiny version of his… are you ready? CHOCOLATE DIPPED PEEPS.
that is some goddamn taking the sunrise and sprinkling it with dew action right there.
i am so thrilled to be february 9th’s fotomoto artist of the day! i didn’t even know it was a thing anyone could be, and now look! YAY!
if you haven’t heard, fotomoto is my new printing service, which is so terrifically priced and so smooth operatorly…
and FYI i am working hard on lots of new tiny foods for you, so stay tuned! xoxo
I HAVE NEW PRINTS FOR SALE!!
prices start at $2 for a postcard, and go all the way up to several hundred for a fine art print, with many, many choices in between. you don’t even have to leave this site, just click “buy print” or “buy card” under the picture of your choice*!
i will have some new pieces for you soon, in the meantime, enjoy!
*if there is no “buy print” or “buy card” under the picture of your choice, it’s because it is not for sale, sorry.
so…have you bought your calendars yet?! calendars make a great gift for your mom, or your coworker, or your mechanic, or your chef, or your teacher, or people you don’t know very well, or yourself, or your mailman, or anyone who needs to know what day it is, really. and that’s pretty much everyone.
remember, they are print to order, which means they take a few days to make before they are shipped off. if you want to get any in time for Christmas, the printers recommend ordering by: 12/15 for the US, 12/14 for Australia, Canada, and the UK; 12/13 for Europe, and 12/11 for the rest of the world.
i got an email from Pierre Javelle, of whom i am a huge fan. he and his wife Akiko Ida are the geniuses behind MINIMIAM, and he wrote a post about me on his blog! this is like if you baked a pie, and Martha Stewart called you up and was like, “nice pie”. google translation says he called me fairy fingered! i nearly fainted.
i will be showing three pieces at Gallery Meltdown’s TINY TOO show on december 11th, in west hollywood. if any of you are in the LA area and would like to see say, a little meatball sandwich, or some eensy twinkies, or mini sashimi up close and personal, i suggest you stop by. there will also be miniature works from 35 other artists, so it should be a very exciting and small show.
THERE’S MORE, KINDA!
i have been getting lots of questions about when i will have new prints for sale, and the answer is: SOONISH. i am working on some new options that will make it easy for you to purchase prints and cards of all sizes right from the site here, and i think it’s going to rule. unfortunately, i don’t think things will be up and running in time for Christmas, but look for some action early January.
well it has been a very big month here in i’m-so-tiny-land. my tacos were featured in the pictures of the day (and pictures of the week!) in the daily telegraph, which made me feel ever so humble and international. then, a whole gallery and write up was in the new york daily news, which pretty much blew my mind.
in honor of reaching 1,000 facebook fans (mind blown, again), i gave two calendars away, one on facebook and one on twitter. the winners were teresa, a librarian in california; and anjen, a scientist at northwestern. see, really smart people know its good to always know what day it is! anjen was even kind enough to include a picture of the calendar hung up in the safest space in the lab!
but you are not here for all that news are you? no. you are here for the food.

i feel bad i didn’t get to film it, so i will show you this picture of my workspace midway through:
yeah… i am not quite as neat when no one is watching.
ps-here’s a pizza video that is not at all scary or amazing.
